Book 1: Ex Libris

Alright - our first book is Anne Fadiman's Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader. It's a collection of essays she wrote for the Library of Congress and falls into the category of Books about Books. I think it's a good jumping off point.

I also find it hilarious. But that may be because I'm a huge dork. It's a little book, so we may get through it fast. Deadline is July 17th or whenever we're all done!

I'm excited! I think I'll make a trip to Barnes and Noble with James this afternoon. Is there a specific edition I should get? Do you have the paperback?

I have the paperback. I've never seen a hardback of it, although I imagine it was originally published in hardcover. I'm guessing that's the red cover that shows up in some images online? I have the green and yellow paperback. :-)

I'll follow suit today when i get off work (seeing as it is midnight already) from my lunch shift. Yeah for our freaking awesome book club.

Oh, p.s. can we make it so our comments are viewable from the main blog page? It makes the conversations and updates so much easier to take in.

I can't figure out how to show our comments on the main blog page. However, if you click on the title of the entry you want to see comments for, it opens up the comments on the main page.

I can't find a feature that lets it stay open. I can ask Paul later to see if he can manipulate the code to let us do that.

In other news, I decided to be more economical, and I saved money by ordering the book from Amazon. I couldn't bring myself to do a used one yet (I guess I'm going to have to work up to that...ha ha), but I got a discount on the cover price and free shipping.

It's no instant gratification, but at least they said I should have it on Friday!
